Clarification on Form 10

Form 10 under the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948 and related state factory rules is specifically applicable to lifting machines, chains, ropes, and lifting tackles used for material handling operations. The purpose of Form 10 is to certify the thorough examination and testing of lifting tools and tackles by a competent person.

Fall protection equipment such as full body harnesses, lanyards, and other PPE are not lifting devices and therefore do not fall under the scope of Form 10 certification. These items are categorized as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and should be inspected and maintained as per manufacturer guidelines and relevant safety standards, not under Form 10.

Misclassifying PPE as lifting equipment can lead to incorrect compliance practices and misunderstanding of safety regulations.
